because the quality and origin of food is sometimes hard to retrace, feed’r aims to simplify food labeling and make it more transparent by using QR-code-stickers. you can scan your food and check its ingredients and origin wherever you like.

in addition there is a feed’r online community where you can create an individual profile and get in touch with other feed’rs to share nutritional facts, recipes, information about food intolerances and diets, get support when planning a dinner, enter cooking contests and so on.

project no. 4: Luck&Happiness

a lot of people in our nowadays society are constantly dissatisfied. however, life standards and wealth are also constantly rising. what we need therefore to strengthen awareness of one’s personal luck and happiness and, by doing so, to make it grow.

Luck&Happiness by interviewing people, asking them about what makes them happy. these interviews are shared on an online platform as well as on billboards. in addition share strips that people can give to others are being printed. by seeing what makes others happy, people can then reflect on their own lives and ideally find out that there is much that makes them happy after all.

UrbanFriday.com intends to build a community where people meet and eat together in public spaces to share ideas and information.

the core of the concept is an online platform providing information about upcoming and past events, how to host a new UrbanFriday in your hometown, legal inside information and tips how to accesss public spaces while also aiming to assemble common interests.

project no. 2: Wisdom Replanted

nowadays not all youngsters have the possibility to get support from older people (like grandparents), and the elderly often feel unimportant. by bringing those groups together we can balance out these kinds of deficits.

at Wisdom Replanted the young can learn various life lessons from the elderly by reinacting and re-interpretating their stories and the elderly can in turn also learn from the young. friendships form that probably wouldn’t have formed otherwise and the generations grow together.

vienna service design jam – day 3

sunday, 3rd of march 2103, 8am CET:
it’s the final countdown! to counteract any symptoms of fatigue we started the day off with coffee and delicious croissants from frömmel confectionery again.

even though we were a little slower to start working than on the preceding days, we soon worked concentratedly on our prototypes. movies were filmed, logos and websites were designed, descriptions were formulated.

everyone was so busy that lunch – hummus and falafel from neni again – was postponed for at least half an hour by most jammers.

as the afternoon proceeded, the situation tightened noticeably as the teams were rendering and re-rendering their movies, looking for music and figuring out what material exactly they had to put on the website. but however stressed the jammers were – the atmosphere was still calm.

everyone managed to upload their projects on time – phew! the tension faded while the jammers realised slowly that they were finished.

afterwards we took a closer look at all the projects jammed: UrbanFriday.com, Wisdom Replanted, feed’r and Luck&Happiness

and so it was done! time for celebration!

thank you, everyone, for a great jam! we hope to see you again in 2014!

vienna service design jam – day 2

saturday, 2nd of march 2013, 8am CET:

first thing to do when the jammers arrived on the second day: breakfast with croissants and coffee! this was followed by an expert talk from jakov jakisic about »six thinking hats«, a thinking technique that helps focusing people’s minds and thinking on various levels simultaneously.

then the jammers decided which of the topics drafted the day before they wanted to deal with, forming groups while doing so. first the groups deployed »six thinking hats« as previously learned, collecting information and formulating questions to be asked.

then they took to the streets to interview passers-by and find out what they had to say to the respective topics.

when the street research was finished the jammers put the results in order and started to further refine their concepts and ideas, considering what they had heard on the street.
we then went on to have lunch consisting of delicate hummus, tahina, falafel and other oriental foods by neni.

after lunch the groups presented what they had created so far to the others.

jakov held another talk further delfing into the concept of »six thinking hats«. the jammers went over their ideas again, some concepts had to face first acid tests being confronted with the harsh reality.

after presenting the projects to the others once more, we had chili con carne and gnocchi from cafe edison for dinner, and continued to work on prototypes for the rest of the session. let’s see what tomorrow brings!

jammers have been at work until late night.
